We went to the Alhambra this weekend, a very old Muslim castle. The Mezquita is, apparently, nothing compared to this.

The arches that you see are Moorish, another word for Muslim. Their religion was not allowed to have plants, nor animals in it, for they believed to be above these things. They preferred simple design, unlike the later Christians, who came many years later.

Ok, moving on, next picture. Muslims had their own way of fancying things up, without living things in their design. Here you see a roof, reaching high, towards Heaven.

Next one, the amazing maze you see, was probably a small city, (we are not sure,) belonging to the amazingly short Spaniards of old. The big wall was probably there to guard the city, (again, I am not sure.)

The last two.
They came from the desert, with very little water, so the cherished the sound and sight of running water. They fancied gardens, and tall, beautiful towers, to add an excellent, awing, effect.

ADIOS!!

Here are pictures of the Mezquita, a very old Moorish castle, made a cathedral later on by the Christians. This is the Bell Tower, and the bells, as you very well know, were and still are rung to let you know what time it is.

The next picture is of the courtyard fountain, a very old, yet still remodeled by the Moorish, fountain indeed.

Since I do not know which picture will come first,
I will tell you that the picture with the paintings
and offering booth is an old Christian, well, offering booth.
The other picture is of old original Muslim arches.

Now for the last two photos. One is of fancier Muslim arches, the other, a statue of pure gold! The doors to the place were also made of gold!

Just a few donkeys, one with it's head through our window!
Donkeys, I discovered, are sweet, sensitive, and stubborn!

Here's a cute little baby Barbary Ape  from Gibraltar, a town owned by the Brits who won it from the Spanish awhile ago. The rock of Gibraltar is a very historic place. There have been wars, sieges, and many other things, too. The Rock is very old itself. It is currently 70,000,000 years old.

My monkey and me!

Here are dad and I, hiking in Tarifa.
Behind us is a cave, fixed up by climbers before.
Isn't that circle in the rock above us cool?We went a little further back, and found a cool, freshwater mountain lake.

Hola!
This is an old river gorge. The bridge we are standing on is called New Bridge, and it is located in Ronda.

We went on a vacation to a town called Sella. Here is a picture of their cathedral. In Sella, they use a kind of agriculture called terraces. Terraces are when you build walls, one below the next, and  grow plants on each wall. The next picture is of me on a mountain called "La Divina". We hiked up it on a goat trail. It's one of the highest mountains around Sella.
We found two viper snakes when we were out climbing. I nearly stepped on one! Here, dad has taken a picture of an English-speaking German woman we met. She is, of course climbing! I will tune in after Christmas, to tell you about Tarifa, where we will be spending Christmas at the beach!
